Welcome to United States History! I will be teaching the course
for the first semester of the year and Ms. Treworgy will teach
the class second semester. This semester we will work our way
through three units:
- Coming to America - discovery, Native Americans, Immigration,
the 13 colonies
- Talkin' About a Revolution - the American Revolution
- Creating a Government - Types of governments, the Articles of
Confederation, the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights,
interpreting the Bill of Rights
Every week students will receive a weekly letter summarizing what
we did last week and what we will do in the coming week. The letter
will also indicate any assignments the student is missing from the
past week. These letters need to be signed by the student and the
parent/gaurdian by the end of the week.
Every Monday students wil also be required to write down the plan
for the week (including homework assignments) in their planners.
This means that students (and parents) will have a rough idea of
when homework will be assigned at the beginning of the week.
Further, most homework assignments will on the Web so students who
are absent can find them there.
Most days will start with a focus writing assignment. Students are
responsible for keeping track of these for the week. In addition,
since the Focus Writing assignments will be online, students who
are absent need to respond to prompts that they miss due to
absences or tardies.
