Announcements
Welcome to the 2009 - 2010 school year! I look forward
to a wonderful school year and getting to know your
kids. I am new to this website creating, but I am determined
to have a user-friendly and informative website. I
will be posting homework assignments and pertinent documents
as I become more proficient at this. Please be a
frequent visitor and check out what is happening in our
classroom!
In English this week (November 23 - 25th), we will
finish reading Tangerine. Their last reading guides, #15 and
#16 were assigned on Friday. They will be due on
Monday. If they are not completed, they will be taken home as
homework. There will be a quiz on Tuesday, covering the last
half of Tangerine. This will be an open note
quiz. On Wednesday, we will be having an all-school read in
during humanitites classes. You can read more about this in
the documents section of this website. We will be doing a wrap-up
activity on Tangerine after the Thanksgiving break. Please
encourage your student to read and log over the break. If
their old log is full, they can download a new one or I can run off
some more.
In Social Studies, we have begun research on vegetation regions,
also known as biomes. Most of the research was done last
week. This week will be spent fine-tuning the research,
making a poster, and beginning presentations. The original
due dates turned out to be a bit ambitious on my part so they have
been revised. I will upload the revised document
tomorrow.
Please be a frequent visitor to your student's Skyward
page. I update grades at least twice a week (most
weeks), so things do change. There are many students
who are not passing English as of today. This is mostly a
result of not turning in work. Seventh grade is certainly a
time of adjustment, and I haven't been really strict about late
work. I am now docking all work that is late, but I still
accept it if it is turned in within a few days of the due
date. I know some students will want to go back and
complete/re-do assignments from weeks or months back, but that
is not acceptable. If you need help accessing Skyward, please
let me know and I will walk you through it
This week, please ask your student if he or she
needs more supplies. As of today,
November 22nd, this is still a problem. Many students are
coming to class without pencils, saying they don't have any.
This is only mid- November, so that is not a good sign.
If you are not able to supply your student with pencils or
anything else, please let me know. I do have an
emergency supply of many supplies that I can dip into and
I will certainly be discreet. Thank you for your
support!
