Welcome to Ms.
Jacobson's Web Page!
Do you like
being head over heels? How about
that feeling of gravity pulling the blood down from
your head? Ever wondered why the roller coaster
train didn't fly right off
of the track on some of the corkscrew turns? Roller
coasters
are all about transformations of energy: potential
energy to
kinetic energy. And we bring that study of energy a
lot closer
when we learn about the physics involved in a car
crash
and how you can keep yourself safe. Of course, in lab,
your
"passenger" will be a raw egg! 8th grade science is
all about
physical science, how things work. You will also spend
time
plotting earthquake and volcanic activity, looking at
how to
identify an unknown powder from a crime scene , and
turning your attention to the grandeur of the Cosmos
above you. All
of this work is done through investigations, asking a
question and gathering data to try
to answer your question. Science is
the best of all worlds-you never get to stop asking questions!!
