Welcome to 7th Grade Social Studies. We will be covering a
wide variety of topics beginning with World Geography. In
this unit, we will study cartography (map making) and the 5
Themes of Geography: Location; Region; Human Environment
Interaction; Place; Movement.
The second and third trimester we will study the Medieval
Age 500 - 1600 AD. In these units, we will review the
importance of Roman History, then move into European Medieval
History - the Middle Ages.
We will continue with the Rise of Islam Unit (which
gives a good understanding of what is going on in the Middle East
today); then move on to the Civilizations of the
Americas (Mayan, Aztec, & Incan), Medieval Japan, Central
African Kingdoms and the Renaissance Period. It will be a
busy, fun, and interesting journey!
Personal Stuff about Mrs. Abdo:
I love Geography!! I love Social Studies! So, I hope you will
learn to love it too!
I've taught at MMS for 5 years. Prior to that, I taught ESL
(English as a Second Language) at Mt. Lake Terrace High
School.
I've been married for a long time (I met my husband in high school
band!) and we have two children that graduated from EWHS. My
son graduated from the UW, making us a 3 generation UW family and
big DAWG fans!! My daughter graduated from Gonzaga
University, making us big Gonzaga Basketball fans (Go
Zags!).
I look forward to meeting my new students and learning about
YOU!!
