    Library Vision Statement

The Westgate School Library Program will support School Improvement Plan goals by:

  • empowering the school community to become learners, readers, and critical thinkers by facilitating access to ideas and information.
  • collaborating in teaching critical thinking and information skills using curriculum integration, flexible scheduling, and project-based learning.
  • providing access to up-to-date traditional resources, as well as multimedia technology to support the curriculum and diverse learning styles.
  • fostering an open and comfortable setting to include and collaborate with the entire school community.
  • encouraging reading and the use of skills and knowledge to promote literacy and lifelong learning.

 
Circulation Information

v      Check out limits: Kindergarteners – 2 resources 
                                1st – 3rd graders – 3 resources 
                                4th – 6th graders – 4 resources

 v      Check out is for two weeks

 
v      Students can renew a resource if no one else is waiting for it.

 v      Return all library resources to the red wagon at any time.

 v      There are no fines unless a resource is lost or damaged, but a student can’t check out more resources if they have fines or overdues.

 v      Please take good care of library resources.  Students are responsible for items checked out in their name.
